Planetary gearbox
| Filling volume | Automatic transmission 09G |
| New gas station | 6.0-6.1 l |
| Change | approx. 4.0-4.5 l1) |
1) Refueling for the entire service life: change only after repair.
In the 09G automatic transmission, only ATF fluid can be used as a lubricant.
Torque converter
Important: Lubricate the O-rings with ATF. Other lubricants may cause malfunctions in the hydraulic transmission control system.
Torque converter marking
There are different types of torque converters available. The marking is done with the "arrow" code. The torque converter is attached to the gearbox.

Torque converter marking (the gearbox is built into the car)

Electrical/electronic components and assembly areas
1 - Automatic transmission control unit "J217", the control unit is checked by the automatic control system; 2 - Central plug for connecting the diagnostic stand, assembly location: cover on the driver's side in the footwell; 3 - Electromagnet for locking the preselector lever "N110", checked by the automatic control system; 4 - Spool valve box; 5 - Wiring harness with eight-pin plug connector and integrated oil temperature sensor in the gearbox "G93", assembly location: the wiring harness is attached to the valve body, the oil temperature sensor in the gearbox "393" is checked by the automatic control system; 6 - Wiring harness with 14-pin plug connector, for solenoids and transmission sensors, assembly location: wiring harness attached to valve body; 7 - Multifunctional switch "F125", checked by the automatic control system; 8 - Gearshift mechanism housing, Tiptronic device switch "F189" is integrated into the gearshift mechanism; 9 - Starter interlock relay; 10 - The speed sensor on the input shaft of the gearbox "G182" is checked by the automatic control system; 11 - Gearbox output shaft speed sensor "G195", scans the speed of rotation on the gearbox output shaft, checked by the automatic control system; 12 - Preselector lever position indicator "Y6", an extinguished indicator means emergency mode with an inoperative gearbox control unit, a fully lit indicator means emergency mode with an operational gearbox control unit; 13 - Kick-Down switch "F8", checked by the automatic control system, signal transmission from the engine control unit to the gearbox control unit via the CAN-Bus; 14 - Brake light switch "F", signal transmission from the engine control unit to the gearbox control unit via the CAN-Bus, checked by the automatic control system
Central plug for connecting the diagnostic stand

Assembly location: Driver side cover in footwell.
Electromagnet for locking the preselector lever "N110"

Assembly location: The solenoid for locking the preselector lever "N110" "A" is located inside the gear shift mechanism.
Spool valve box

Assembly location: The valve body is bolted at the bottom to the gearbox housing and covered by the gearbox oil pan.
Wiring harness with 8-pin connector and integrated gearbox oil temperature sensor "C93" "arrow"

Assembly location: The wiring harness is attached to the valve body.
Wiring harness with 14-pin plug connector

Assembly location: The wiring harness is attached to the valve body.
Multifunctional switch "F125"

Assembly location: The multi-function switch is located on top of the gearbox. The plug connector "5" is placed directly on the multi-function switch.

Tiptronic device switch "F189"

Assembly location: The Tiptronic switch "F189" is integrated into the printed circuit board "A" of the gearshift mechanism. The Tiptronic "F189" switch is firmly integrated into the gearshift mechanism and cannot be replaced independently. It can only be removed and installed together with the gear shift mechanism.
Gearbox output shaft speed sensor "G195"

Assembly location: The speed sensor on the output shaft of the gearbox "0195" "arrow 2" is attached behind the valve box on the gearbox housing.
Gearbox input shaft speed sensor "G182"
Assembly location: The gearbox input shaft speed sensor "G182" "arrow 1" is attached behind the spool valve on the gearbox housing.
Preselector lever position indicator "Y6"

Assembly location: built into the instrument panel.
Important: The "Y6" preselector lever position indicator can only be replaced together with the instrument panel.
Kick-Down Switch "F8"

Brake light switch "F"

Assembly location: The brake light switch "F" "arrow" is located on the pedal mechanism.
Important: To ensure it is firmly attached, it can only be installed once.
Removal and installation the automatic transmission control unit "J217"

Assembly location: The control unit is located on the battery case. With the ignition off, disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. After unfastening the plug connector from the gearbox control unit, disconnect it. Press the "arrow" latches away from the control unit holder. Remove the control unit in an upward direction.
Important: Disconnecting the plug connector of the transmission control unit resets the adaptation values in the transmission control unit. After reconnection, the control unit must relearn these values. During this "training" period, the quality of gear shifting may be lower than usual.
Installation
Install the control unit onto the battery cover so that the "arrow" latches click into the locked position. Connect the transmission control unit plug connector. Connect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle.
