Parking brake cable equalizer
1 – equalizer; 2 – cables; 3 – adjusting nut; 4 – thrust
1. Remove the floor console.
2. Make sure the parking brake lever is fully depressed.
3. To self-set the parking brake components, press the brake pedal sharply several times, then tighten and release the parking brake lever three times.
4. Lift the lever one click (from a fully lowered position).
5. Tighten the adjusting nut 3 (see the picture Parking brake cable equalizer) until the moment when the rear wheels can be turned with difficulty by hand. Keep in mind that the adjusting nut is self-locking, so there must always be a few turns of the tie rod thread protruding from it, otherwise there will be no self-locking effect.
6. Lower the parking brake lever all the way down and turn the rear wheels by hand. They should rotate evenly, without jamming.
7. Raise the lever four clicks. The wheels should not turn. Otherwise, repeat the adjustment.
8. Install the floor console.
