Warning! Take precautions when handling brake fluid: it is toxic. Contact with brake fluid on wires, plastic or painted parts of the body can cause damage. Therefore, always put clean rags when pouring into the tank. If liquid comes into contact with parts, wipe them off immediately with a clean cloth.
Attention! Do not reuse the fluid drained from the system: it is contaminated, saturated with air and moisture.
Attention! Brake fluid is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the surrounding air), so it can not be stored in an open container.
Use only brake fluid to fill the hydraulic system «FMVSS 571.116 DOT 4».
The sequence of fluid replacement in the brake mechanisms:
- rear right;
- rear left;
- front right;
- front left;
- clutch drive.
Attention! It is recommended to replace the brake fluid with an assistant, setting the car on a viewing ditch or overpass.
1. Remove the master cylinder reservoir cap.
2. Clean the air release valve of dirt and remove its protective cap.
3. Put one end of the rubber hose on the valve and immerse the other end in a clean, transparent vessel.
4. The assistant should sharply press the brake pedal 4-5 times and leave the pedal depressed.
5. Loosen the air release valve 1/2 - 3/4 turn - old air will start to flow out of the hose (dirty) brake fluid. In this case, the brake pedal should move smoothly to the stop. As soon as the fluid stops flowing, close the air release valve.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until new fluid flows out of the hose (pure) brake fluid. Constantly monitor the fluid level in the reservoir, preventing it from falling below the MIN·mark, and add new brake fluid if necessary.
7. In the same way, change the fluid in the remaining brake mechanisms and clutch drive.
8. Press the brake pedal several times. Pedal travel and resistance should be constant each time you press it. If these conditions are not met, then air has entered the brake system and it must be pumped.
