Danger: Coolant temperature can exceed 100°C when the engine is warm. The cooling system is under pressure - risk of burns. Before starting repair work, reduce the pressure and temperature, if necessary.

Disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. Remove the middle panel. Reduce the pressure in the coolant circulation system by opening the cap of the coolant expansion tank. Clamp the coolant hoses leading to the heat exchanger with hose clamps - (if it is not possible to secure the hoses, then the coolant must be drained). Place a rag under the heat exchanger to catch any leaking liquid. Disconnect coolant hoses "2" and "3". Carefully blow the coolant out of the heat exchanger with compressed air. To do this, connect a hose with compressed air to the connecting pipe of the supply line and place the tank under the connecting pipe of the return line. After unscrewing the "arrow" screw (20 Nm), move the heat exchanger connecting pipe "1" forward.

For vehicles with a "Z35" auxiliary resistive heating element (PTC)

Disconnect the auxiliary heater plug connector for the wiring harness on the heater to the left. After unscrewing the nut (10 Nm), disconnect the wire for connecting the additional heater to ground under the air distributor housing.

Continued for all vehicles

Remove the air distributor spacer for the rear body floor "3". Move the clamps "1" to the right, left and rear. Having lowered the lower part of the air distributor housing "2" with the heat exchanger, release it from the front retainer in the rear direction.

Carefully remove the lower part of the air distributor housing in the direction of the arrow to the right. Remove the heat exchanger from the lower part of the air distributor housing.

For vehicles with a "Z35" auxiliary resistive heating element (PTC)

Carefully remove the heating element of the auxiliary resistive heater (PTC) "Z35" in an upward direction from the lower part of the air distributor housing.

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of actions. In this case, the following instructions must be observed. Before installing the heat exchanger, lightly lubricate the sealing lips in the cross wall (mounting plate) and the heat exchanger with a neutral soap solution (ease of installation). Carefully press seal "1" into the cross wall (mounting plate) from the outside, into the groove located in the "2" branch pipe of the "arrow" heat exchanger. Replace the O-rings on the heat exchanger. Connect the coolant hoses correctly in relation to the sides. In the direction of vehicle movement, to the left: supply line to the right: return line.

Installation is carried out in the reverse order…

Important: If the heat exchanger is replaced with a new one, it is necessary to drain all the coolant and fill the system with new fluid.

Check the coolant level and top up if necessary. Follow the procedure when connecting the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle.
