Important: ATF temperature is measured using the VAS 5051. The ATF level changes depending on the ATF temperature. Checking the ATF level when the ATF temperature is low will result in overflow. Checking the ATF fluid level when the ATF temperature is high will result in underfilling. Overfilling and, correspondingly, underfilling disrupt the operation of the gearbox. Only ATF fluid supplied as a spare part can be used in the 09G automatic transmission. The use of other liquids or oils leads to malfunctions or failure of the gearbox.
Control
Important: Check the ATF fluid level through the ATF inspection screw plug. The ATF fluid level is normal if only a very small amount of ATF flows out of the inspection screw plug at an ATF temperature of between 35° and 45°C (in countries with warm climates - 50°C) (caused by an increase in the level as a result of heating).
Fill the ATF fluid filling device for the 09G automatic transmission.
Caution: The ATF filling device must be clean and the ATF fluid must not be mixed with other ATF fluids!
Mount the ATF filling device receiver on the vehicle as high as possible. Place the vehicle on a lift or over an inspection pit so that it is completely horizontal. Remove the lower engine cover. Place a tray under the transmission. Start the engine and let it idle. Once the ATF fluid temperature reaches 35°C, unscrew the ATF fluid control screw plug "A".

It is essential to replace the "arrow" sealing ring on the ATF fluid control plug.

First, the ATF fluid flows out of the bypass tube "arrow 2". The ATF fluid level is normal if the ATF fluid continues to drip before reaching a temperature of 40°C (approximately 1 drop per second) through the bypass tube from the inspection hole.

Fit the ATF fluid inspection screw plug "arrow 1" with a new sealing ring and tighten it to the specified tightening torque. This completes the ATF fluid check.
Important: The ATF level check screw must be closed again no later than at a temperature of 45°C (in countries with warm climates - 50°C).
If no ATF flows out of the inspection hole before the temperature reaches 45°C, add more ATF. Exit function "08 - Read measured value block." Enter "06 - End output." Turn off the ignition and disconnect the central connector from the diagnostic stand.
