Determining the degree of engine wear by compression
Engine | Compression, MPa
New engine | wear limit | Maximum permissible difference of values in cylinders
Petrol 1.0 l, 37 kW and 1.4 l, 50 kW | not lower than 1.2 | 0,75 | no more than 0.3 |
Diesel 1.9 l, 74 kW | 2,5 – 3,1 | 1,9 | no more than 0.5 |
1. Remove the upper engine cover (see subsection 2.1).
2. For gasoline engines 1.0 l, 37 kW and 1.4 l, 50 kW, disconnect the block 1 with wires from the ignition module 2, turn out the spark plugs (see subsection 10.3.3) and remove the #35 fuse from the fuse box.
3. For a diesel engine 1.9 l, 74 kW, disconnect the block of the wiring harness for the unit injectors from the wiring harness, unscrew the glow plugs and screw in a special adapter instead of the candles.
4. Connect a compression gauge.
5. Scroll the engine with a starter until the pressure on the gauge scale stabilizes. In this case, for a gasoline engine, you need to press the accelerator pedal all the way.
6. Similarly check up a compression in other cylinders.
7. Disconnect the compression gauge and install all removed parts.
8. Clear the fault memory of the engine control unit.
