1 – intake camshaft; 2 – exhaust camshaft

The cylinder head is assembled in the reverse order of disassembly, taking into account the following:

1. Before installation, lubricate the valve stems, working surfaces of the hydraulic tappets and valve rocker arms, valve stem seals, camshaft cams and journals, and rocker arm shafts with engine oil.

2. For 1.0 l, 37 kW and 1.4 l, 50 kW engines, when assembling the rocker arm axles, position the rocker arms and struts as shown in the figure Valve rocker shaft assembly.

3. For 1.4 l, 55 and 74 kW engines, before installing the seals 3 (see figure Cylinder head parts for 1.4L, 55 and 74 kW engines) lubricate their working edges with engine oil. Replace bolts 1 for fastening the camshaft pulleys and bolts 6 for fastening the bearing housing.

4. The markings of the camshafts are shown in the figure Camshaft markings for 1.4-liter engines. The inscription 036AC is applied to the intake camshaft between the cams of the first and second cylinders, and DE is applied to the cams of the third cylinder. The inscriptions 036AA and W1 are applied to the exhaust camshaft, respectively.

5. For 1.9 l, 74 kW diesel engines, before installing the bearing caps, install washers 4 (see figure Cylinder head of a 1.9L, 74 kW diesel engine), replace bolts 1 for fastening the rocker arm axles and bolts 19 for fastening the bearing caps.

6. Before installing the bearing caps, apply sealant to the first and fifth caps as shown in the figure Sealant application areas on the first and fifth camshaft bearing caps. The camshaft marking is shown in the figure, on the end of the exhaust valve cam of the fourth cylinder there is an inscription 038R or 858R, and the diameter is a (circle inscribed in the cam) equals 52.8 mm.
