Assembly diagram of the brake booster, brake master cylinder

Important: The complete brake master cylinder and brake booster can be replaced independently of each other.

Important: The complete brake master cylinder and…

  • 1 - Brake booster, in gasoline engines the required vacuum is obtained from the intake manifold, in diesel engines the vacuum is created in the built-in vacuum pump or in a dual tandem pump for fuel and vacuum supply, respectively.

Action check

Press the brake pedal firmly several times with the engine stopped (this removes the remaining pressure from the amplifier). While holding the brake pedal in the braking position with moderate force, start the engine. If the brake booster is working properly, the brake pedal under your foot will noticeably give way (the amplification is effective). The valve must be blown in the direction of the arrow. The valve must be tight against the direction of the arrow.
  • 2 - brake fluid level warning contact switch "F34", must not be removed or repaired
  • 3 - Cork
  • 4 - Brake fluid reservoir (hydraulic brake drive)

Removal

Suck out the brake fluid. Press the dowel pin out of the side lugs on the brake fluid reservoir and out of the brake master cylinder. Pull the hydraulic brake fluid reservoir out of the sealing plugs in an upward direction.

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of actions. Add new brake fluid. Bleed air from the brake system in vehicles without ABS or with ABS, ABS/ASR BOSCH 8.0.
  • 5 - Moisten the sealing plugs with brake fluid and press into the hydraulic brake fluid reservoir
  • 6 - Nut, self-locking, 20 Nm, replace after each removal
  • 7 - Master brake cylinder, cannot be repaired, in case of malfunction replace with a set
  • 8 - Mounting pin for securing the hydraulic brake fluid reservoir to the master cylinder
  • 9 - O-ring, always replace after removing the master cylinder
  • 10 - Sealing plugs
  • 11 - Intake hose, install together with the brake booster
  • 12 - Cap
  • 13 - Nut, self-locking, 28 Nm, replace after each removal
  • 14 - Seal for brake booster
