
Remove the poly V-belt. Remove the right engine mount. Remove the water coolant pump pulley. Remove the guide roller (only for vehicles with air conditioning). Remove the tension element with the tension roller. Remove the alternator. Remove the ventilation pipe of the cooling system. Lock the crankshaft using a mandrel and, after unscrewing the crankshaft screw, remove the crankshaft pulley. Remove the oil pan, oil level indicator guide tube and, if necessary, the oil level and temperature sensor "G266" (vehicles with extended service intervals WIV). Remove the connection from the vacuum control valve (pCV valve). Remove all screws from the timing gear cover. Remove the timing gear cover. If necessary, loosen the lid by lightly tapping it outwards with a rubber hammer (the timing gear cover sits on centering pins).
Important: Cover the area around the sealing surfaces to prevent sealant from getting into the camshaft chain drive. Remove any remaining seal from the timing gear cover using a seal remover.
Clean the sealing surfaces on the timing gear cover and engine. They must be defatted.
Installation
Important: The bushing must be installed only after the timing gear cover has been installed, otherwise the sealing ring may be damaged. In the case of a bushing with silicone mastic applied inside, the remaining mastic should be removed and a new O-ring should be inserted into the bushing. Check that the oil separator was not damaged during removal (eg broken blades). Check the warranty period of the sealant. The timing gear cover must be installed within 5 minutes of applying the sealant. If there is no blue sealant in the threads of the M6 screws, replace the screws with new ones containing sealant.
Use scissors to cut off the pointed end of the tube at the front mark (hole diameter - approx. 3 mm). Apply silicone sealant as shown on the clean sealing surface of the timing gear cover "arrows A".
Important: In places where the cylinder head transitions to the cylinder block, silicone sealant should be applied along the dividing plane "arrow C".

B - Position of the centering pin
Thickness of the track sealing agent: 2...3 mm.

Important: Do not allow the sealing agent track thickness to exceed 3 mm, otherwise excess sealing agent will enter the oil pan and may clog the oil pump screen.
Immediately replace the timing gear cover and lightly tighten all screws. Tighten the screws in the sequence shown.

Install the bushing. The bushing must be sealed with a circular cross-section sealing ring.

The rest of the installation is carried out in the reverse order of actions. In this case, the following instructions must be observed: Replace the crankshaft screw. Tightening torque: 90 Nm + turn an additional 90° (1/4 turn).
