Cylinder block of 1.0 l, 37 kW and 1.4 l, 50 kW engines
1 – housing mounting bolt; 2 – housing of main bearing caps of 1.4 l engine; 3 – thrust half ring of the crankshaft of the 1.4 l engine; 4 – rear oil seal holder mounting bolt; 5 – flywheel; 6 – flywheel mounting bolt; 7 – rear crankshaft oil seal; 8 – rear oil seal holder; 9 – protective screen; 10 – screen mounting bolt; 11 – sensor mounting bolt; 12 – knock sensor; 13 – cylinder block; 14 – oil receiver bracket mounting bolt; 15 – timing gear cover; 16 – front crankshaft oil seal; 17 – generator drive pulley; 18 – crankshaft pulley mounting bolt; 19 – cover mounting bolt; 20 – cover gasket; 21 – camshaft gear; 22 – oil pump drive gear; 23 – gear mounting bolt; 24 – camshaft drive chain; 25 – upper main bearing shells; 26 – crankshaft gear; 27 – key; 28 – 1.4L engine crankshaft; 29 – lower main bearing shell; 30 – 1.0 L engine main bearing caps; 31 – thrust half ring of the crankshaft of the 1.0 l engine; 32 – 1.0 L engine crankshaft
The camshaft of 1.0 litre petrol engines with a power of 37 kW and 1.4 litre petrol engines with a power of 50 kW is driven by a chain.
Attention! The chain must be replaced together with the crankshaft and camshaft gears.
Caution! If the chain is not being removed for replacement, mark its direction of rotation, as changing the direction of rotation will cause the chain to wear out quickly.
1. Remove the alternator drive belt (see subsection 2.3).
2. While holding the crankshaft from turning, unscrew bolt 18 and remove generator drive pulley 17.
3. Remove the engine oil pan (see subsection 3.1).
4. Unscrew bolt 14 securing the oil pump receiver bracket.
5. Unscrew bolts 19 securing cover 15 of the timing gears and remove it with cover gasket 20.
Caution! The timing gear cover gasket must be replaced with a new one.
6. Unscrew bolt 23 of the fastening and remove gear 22 of the oil pump drive.
7. Remove gears 21 and 26 together with the chain.
8. Select the crankshaft gear (see subsection 2.6).

9. Place the chain on the gears so that 12 chain link axes are located between the marks on them, as shown in the figure. In this position, install the gears on the crankshaft and camshaft. Install the oil pump drive gear. Screw in the gear mounting bolt, having first applied Loctite 648 sealant to the bolt threads (1 – camshaft drive chain; 2 – camshaft gear; 3 – crankshaft gear; A – mark on the camshaft gear; B – mark on the crankshaft gear).
10. Install all removed parts in reverse order. Before screwing in the timing gear cover mounting bolts, apply Loctite 242 to their threads.
