Important: The chassis has different designs of wheel hub bearing caps and disc brake calipers. The special tools and measuring instruments required for removing and installing the wheel bearing cap are identical for chassis with FS-II, FS-III brakes and for C54-II.

Loosen the twelve-sided nut to secure the drive shaft. Remove the wheel. Unscrew nut "1". Remove stabilizer connecting rod "3" from stabilizer "2". Remove the ABS speed sensor (cars with ABS).

Cars with FS-II disc brake caliper

After unscrewing the cylindrical head screws with an internal hexagon in the head from the disc wheel brake caliper, remove them (no drawing). After removing the disc brake caliper or the disc brake caliper support with the caliper, hook it with a wire in such a way that its weight does not exert any load on the brake hose and, therefore, does not damage it.

Cars with FS-III disc brake caliper

Remove the covers from the guide pins of the disc brake caliper. After unscrewing both guide pins "arrows" from the caliper of the disc wheel brake mechanism, remove them. After removing the disc brake caliper or the disc brake caliper support with the caliper, hook it with a wire in such a way that its weight does not exert any load on the brake hose and, therefore, does not damage it.

Cars with C54-II disc brake caliper

Remove screws "1". After removing the disc brake caliper or the disc brake caliper support with the caliper, secure it with wire so that its weight does not exert any load on the brake hose and, therefore, does not cause any damage.

After removing the outer joint of the cardan shaft from the wheel bearing cap, tie the shaft at the top to the body. Nut "1" should be unscrewed to such an extent that the ball joint puller rests on the nut. Using a puller, remove the transverse tie rod with the transverse tie rod end "2" from the steering linkage arm.

Unscrew the nut from the tie rod end. Remove the tie rod end from the steering linkage arm. Tie the steering linkage rod at the top. Place the engine and gearbox removal and installation tool with the tip under the wheel hub bearing cover. Disconnect the screw connection between the wheel hub bearing cap and the shock absorber strut "arrow".

Place the spacer into the groove in the wheel bearing cap. Turn the ratchet wrench 90° with the spacer and remove the ratchet wrench. Press the brake disc with your hand towards the shock absorber strut. Otherwise, the shock absorber could become jammed in the hole in the wheel bearing cap. After removing the wheel hub bearing cover: shock absorber tube, lower it using the engine and gearbox removal and installation tool with a tip.

Installation

Using an engine and gearbox removal and installation tool with a tip, lift the wheel hub bearing cap and place it on the shock absorber tube.

Important: Never press the engine and gearbox removal and installation tool with the tip onto the ball joint.

Insert a new screw for the shock absorber strut and wheel bearing cap. Press the brake disc by hand towards the shock absorber strut, being careful not to jam the shock absorber strut tube in the hole in the wheel hub bearing housing cover. Remove the spacer device.

Tighten the screw connection between the wheel bearing cap and the shock absorber strut with a new nut "arrow". Install the tie rod and tie rod end into the steering linkage arm and tighten. Insert the outer joint of the driveshaft into the wheel bearing cap. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of actions than removal. Take measurements of the vehicle. Conduct a test run.

Tighten the screw connection between the wheel…

Caution: If after a test run and with the front wheels set to drive straight, the steering wheel is not in the deflection position, the vehicle must be measured.
