2. If the bed is not accessible, you can disassemble the engine on a sturdy workbench or on the floor. Be extremely careful not to overturn or drop the engine when working without a stand.
3. If you are going to install a rebuilt engine, then first move the following external components to it from the old block:
- a) Alternator brackets (Section 12).
- b) Distributor, high voltage wires and spark plugs (Section 5).
- c) Thermostat and casing (Section 3).
- d) fuel system (Section 4).
- e) All electrical switches and sensors.
- f) intake and exhaust manifolds (Section 4).
- g) Oil filter (Section 1).
- h) Fuel pump and filter (Section 4).
- i) Flywheel (Section 2A, Chapter 12).
Note: When removing external components from the engine, pay special attention to parts that will be useful or important during installation. Note the location of gaskets, seals, pins, washers, bolts and other small parts.
4. If purchased for replacement «incomplete» engine (those. assembly of cylinder block, crankshaft, pistons and connecting rods), you need to shine with the old engine cylinder head. sump, oil pump, drive chain and sprockets.
5. If you are planning a complete overhaul, the engine can be disassembled and the internal components removed in the following order:
- a) intake and exhaust manifolds (Section 4).
- b) cylinder head (Section 2A, Chapter 6).
- c) Pallet (Section 2A, Chapter 10).
- d) Oil pump (Section 2A, Chapter 9).
- e) Drive cover, chain and sprockets (Section 2A, Chapter 7).
- f) Camshaft and rocker arms (Chapter 9).
- g) Piston/Connecting Rod Assemblies (Chapter 10)
- h) Crankshaft (Chapter 11).
6. Before starting work, make sure that you have all the necessary tools at hand.
